Com-Strat issued an RFP for local and long-distance carrier services for a county located in Northern California. Four vendors responded with proposals ranging from $70,000.00 to over $100,500.00 annually. After extensive negotiations, Com-Strat was able to secure the county 10,000 free minutes of long-distance service and another 4,000 free minutes of incoming toll-free calling per month. Per minute rates were reduced from $0.038 to $0.020 for long distance and from $0.040 to $0.020 for toll-free services.
When combined with an enhanced free calling area that includes all of the San Francisco Bay Area and the northern CA coast, the County was able to reduce their baseline spend to $36,420.00, capturing almost $35,000 to $65,000 in annual savings. Over the projected 36 month life of the contract the county can expect to see over $109,000.00 to $190,000.00 in savings.
